Luna is the American name given to a coast redwood tree in October 1997. This tree has also been referred to as the 'Stafford Giant.' The tree is estimated to be between 600 and 1000 years old and lives in an old growth forest, Headwatfornia. Although many refer to the tree as "she," giant redwoods produce both male and female cones.[2] The sex of giant redwoods such as Luna is technically neither male nor female, but monoecious.
