Two of the earliest surveyors and engineers with the US Army to visit Pueblo Bonito were  Lt. James H. Simpson and Dick Kern.  They chiseled their names in 1849 on the wall of one of the chambers of the pueblo.

Pueblo Bonito

Pueblo Bonito, the largest and best known Great House in Chaco Culture National Historical Park, northern New Mexico, was built by ancestral Pueblo people and occupied between AD 828 and 1126.
