At 9:31 a.m. on March 12, 2014, an explosion occurred in East Harlem, in Manhattan, New York City. The explosion, which occurred just north of the intersection of 116th Street and Park Avenue, leveled two buildings located at 1644 and 1646 Park Avenue,[2] killing at least seven people and injuring at least 70 others. At least five other people are missing.[1]City officials said that a gas leak caused the blast.[2][4]
