The Szczekociny rail crash occurred on 3 March 2012 when two passenger trains collided head-on near the town of Szczekociny, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland.[2] 16 persons were killed in the incident and a further 58 injured.[2] The incident provoked condolences from the leaders of a number of European countries. The investigation into the collision began on 4 March.[5] Official investigative report was published on 15.02.2013.[6]
