2014 shootings at Parliament Hill, Ottawa

On October 22, 2014, several shooting incidents occurred around Parliament Hill in Ottawa. The shootings began shortly before 10:00 EDT when Corporal Nathan Cirillo, a Canadian Army soldier on ceremonial guard duty at the Canadian National War Memorial, was fatally shot. Shortly after, a second shooting incident occurred across the street within the Hall of Honour at Centre Block on Parliament Hill.[5][6] Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper called the shootings a "terrorist attack."
