Roy Ducat and Julie Helgeson were camping here at Granite Chalet Campground when they were attacked by a grizzly bear on August 13, 1967. Ducat suffered major injuries but survived. Helegeson died from the attack.
Description
While camping near the Granite Park Chalet, Helgeson was dragged from her tent. Her boyfriend was also severely mauled during the attack.[171][172]
