Myles Standish Burying Ground

The pilgrims hired Myles Standish as the military officer on the Mayflower and what would later become Plymouth Colony. By all accounts, he was an extremely courageous man who was instrumental in the defense of the colony particularly during their first two winters in 1620 through 1622. Standish never became a Puritan (now the Congregational Church). He was one of the early settlers of Duxbury and eventually retired there where he is now buried. He conducted several successful raids on threatening Native American tribes including the Massachusetts and Pokanoket.
