Description

2016 U.S. Marine helicopter collision

The 2016 U.S. Marine helicopter collision occurred in the early morning hours of January 15, 2016, when two CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters piloted by members of the United States Marine Corps reportedly collided[2] over the Pacific Ocean, off Oahu's North Shore, in Hawaii. Each helicopter had six U.S. Marines aboard, all of whom are missing. A search and rescue operation is underway, and although a debris field from the two craft has been located, no sign of the twelve missing crew members has been found.[3][4]
