According to Sears et al. the boardwalk to Hidden Lake Overlook "crosses red argillite beds of the Snowslip Formation.  They display spectacular ripples and mudcracks" that are 1.454 billion years old.   We should note that it is illegal to take samples within a national park.  Stop 4 of Sears et al.
