Appling Granite at Heggies Rock

The Appling granite is a post-metamorphic granitic pluton of Permian age.  It is undeformed by Appalachain stress and strain with an age of 294 Ma.  It is one of the youngest intrusions in the southern Appalachian Piedmont.  It has intruded the Kiokee belt.  Stop 7 Dennis.
