On the night of October 1, 2017, a mass shooting occurred at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival in Paradise, Nevada. During a closing performance by singer Jason Aldean, a shooter fired into the crowd from a 32nd-floor balcony of the neighboring Mandalay Bay resort.
