National Chiao Tung University

National Chiao Tung University (NCTU; Chinese: 國立交通大學) is one of Taiwan's leading public research universities located in Hsinchu, Taiwan. NCTU was founded in Xujiahui, Shanghai as Nanyang Public School (南洋公學) by Sheng Xuanhuai in 1896. After the Chinese Civil War, NCTU was re-established in Hsinchu by former Chiao Tung University faculty and alumni members in 1958. National Chiao Tung University is considered one of the most selective schools in Taiwan. Approximately 65% of CEOs in high-tech companies in the Hsinchu Science Park are NCTU alumni. From 2006 to 2010, there were 336 patents granted and the technology transfer amount was over 13 million US dollars, both ranked number one among universities in Taiwan.
