Description

The Niederbieber castle was a Roman border fortification of the Upper Germanic Limes , which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005 . The former auxiliaries , one of the largest on the Limes, is today as a ground monument under a residential estate of Niederbieber , a district of the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Neuwied in the Federal Republic of Germany, Niederbieber is one of the largest, most important and best researched Roman military camps on the Upper Germanic Limes. Despite the irreplaceable military and cultural value of this facility and its associated camp settlement, the ruthlessly driven destruction could be continued until recently. In scientific circles is therefore spoken of an "immense loss" . [1]
