The castle bath of the Saalburg was located in front of the main gate west of the road leading to Nida-Heddernheim . During the excavation, the findings were initially interpreted as a "villa". In the Wilhelminian restoration concept, a "Roman garden" according to Pliny the Elder was created in 1888 to match the Homburg Taunus Club on the east side of the ruins . The work was carried out by the Homburg court gardener Georg Karl Merle . Due to lack of funds for the care of the garden but this decayed a few years after its investment again. [37]
