Brumadinho dam disaster

The Brumadinho dam disaster occurred on 25 January 2019, when a tailings dam in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, Brazil, suffered a catastrophic failure. The dam was owned by Vale, the same company which was involved in the 2015 Bento Rodrigues dam disaster.^[3] The Barragem VI dam, operated by mining company Vale S.A., has released a mudflow that has advanced over houses in the rural area of the city.^[4]
