A mass shooting occurred on August 31, 2019, when multiple people were shot from a vehicle traveling between the Texas cities of Odessa and Midland.[3] Eight people, including the perpetrator, and at least 19, including three police officers, were injured. The shooter was identified as Seth Ator, who was shot and killed by police outside a movie theater as he fired at them again.[4][5][6]
