At around 1 a.m. EDT on June 24, 2021, Champlain Towers South, a 12-story beachfront condominium building in the suburb of Surfside in Miami, Florida, partially collapsed. One person died in the immediate aftermath, and eleven more were injured or taken to hospital as a result of the collapse.[2] At least 99 people remain missing.[3][4]
