The 1965 Olympia earthquake occurred at 08:29 PDT (15:29 UTC) on April 29 within the Puget Sound region of Washington State. It had a magnitude of 6.7 on the moment magnitude scale and a maximum perceived intensity of VIII (Destructive) on the Mercalli intensity scale. It caused the deaths of seven people and about $12.5 million in damage.[3] There were no recorded aftershocks.[4]
