Koobi Fora fossil sites

The sites include those worked on by Richard and Meave Leakey.  Several important human ancestor fossils have been found in the region.  Koobi Fora is the region which is broken down into fossil collecting areas, and finally archaeological sites (there are over 100 sites).  Eventually sites will have to be mapped to specific finds.

Koobi Fora

Koobi Fora /ˈkbi ˈfɔrə/ refers primarily to a region around Koobi Fora Ridge, located on the eastern shore of Lake Turkana in the territory of the nomadic Gabbra people. According to the National Museums of Kenya, the name comes from the Gabbra language:
