On July 23, 2002, Major David Shannon was shot twice here and died instantly from the mortal wounds. His wife, Joan Shannon, and his step daughter, Elizabeth Shannon were found guilty of the murder. Joan Shannon was sentenced to life in prison without pareole while her daughter Elizabeth was sentenced to 25 years.
