The fort Osterburken was a Roman military camp , whose crew was responsible for security and surveillance tasks at the so-called "Front Limes" of the Upper German-Rhaetian Limes . The UNESCO World Heritagesite is located about 455 meters west of the Limestrasse on the southern slope of the Kirnautales in the Hager corridor. [1] The partially still visible and preserved building remains are in the Neckar-Odenwald belonging Baden-Wuerttemberg City Osterburken in the Federal Republic of Germany, In addition to the fort, which became a double fort by a subsequent addition, in particular the partially well datable buildings and valuable finds from the area of the extensive Roman camp village (Vicus) became nationally known.
