March 17, 2013 - A Hawker Beachcraft jet was attempting to land at the Southbend airport when the pilot reported the jet was having electrical problems. The jet crashed into 3 homes ending up embedded in the home located here. The two pilots were killed. One of the pilots, Steve Davis, played quarterback on the 1974 and 1975 Oklahoma national championship teams. The two passengers on the jet were injured and minor injuries occurred on the ground.
