Joel Shanbrom was shot three times in his home here at 17928 Raymer Street, Northridge, CA on March 18, 1998.  His wife Jennifer claimed to have hidden in the shower upstairs why burglars ransacked the house.  But she was seen only days after the murder cavorting with Matthew Fletcher.  She eventually married Fletcher, an insurance salesman, who helped her former husband buy some of the 1.2 million dollars worth of life insurance she received after her husbands murder.  Even though it took 4 years to obtain enough evidence, both Jennifer and Matthew Fletcher were tried and found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
