At the location here Jame Earl Ray shot Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4, 1968.  It was a poor rooming house at 422 1/2 South Main St..  The back window of the second story room 5B Ray got overlooked the Loraine Motel. But in order to keep better hidden when he took the shot he used the community bathroom down from his room.
