The altar may be a place where sacrifices by the Incas were made.

The name Qenqo comes from the Spanish conquerors meaning labyrinth.  It is one of the most important shrines existing in the Inca Empire.  It is still unclear what the site was used for but probably sacrifices and embalming.

Q'inqu (Quechua q'inqu zig-zag) is an archaeological site in the Sacred Valley of Peru located in the Cusco Region, about 6 km north east of Cusco.
