View on map:43.299744°N 2.261349°W

Comments

The nearly vertical layers of alternating calcareous clay and marl range in age from Late Cretaceous to Paleogene and stretch for about 8 km along the coast in either direction from this site.  They are a classic example of turbidite sediments or flysch.

Description

Turbidite

A turbidite is the geologic deposit of a turbidity current, which is a type of sediment gravity flow responsible for distributing vast amounts of clastic sediment into the deep ocean.
