Description

Fort Winnebago Surgeon's Quarters

The Fort Winnebago Surgeons Quarters refers to a site on a land bridge or portage, with two historic buildings situated between the Fox River and the Wisconsin River, in Portage, Wisconsin. Built circa 1820, the log structure, referred to as the Surgeons Quarters, has served multiple purposes. The second historic building on the site is the Garrison School circa 1850. Both properties are owned, operated and maintained by the Wisconsin Society Daughters of the American Revolution who operate it as a museum with 19th century period furnishings.
