Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU), (Czech Univerzita Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně), is a public university comprising six faculties offering courses in technology, economics, humanities, arts and health care. The University has been named after the entrepreneur Tomas Bata (1876–1932) who was also the originator of the shoe industry in Zlín. With a current student population of more than 9,200,[3] TBU ranks among medium-sized Czech universities.
