Galle (Sinhala: ගාල්ල;Tamil: காலி) is a major city in Sri Lanka, situated on the southwestern tip of Sri Lanka, 119 km from Colombo. Galle is the administrative capital of Southern Province, Sri Lanka and the district capital of Galle District. It is the fifth largest City in the country after the capital Colombo, Kandy, Jaffna and Negombo, with a population of around 100 000, and is connected by rail to Colombo and Matara.
