La Marquesa National Park

La Marquesa is the common name for the Parque Nacional Insurgente Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, situated west of Mexico City on the toll road heading towards Toluca, the capital of the State of Mexico. It lies in the municipalities of Ocoyoacac, Huixquilucan, and Lerma de Villada in the State of Mexico, and also in the adjacent Cuajimalpa borough of the Distrito Federal. The settlement of La Marquesa itself is part of the ejido of the indigenous Otomí community San Jerónimo Acazulco. It is also west of the Desierto de los Leones National Park. Most of the forested area is on the north side of the highway.
